Tropical Cyclone in Northwest Arabian Sea

 

The Tropical Cyclone (ASHOBAA) over northwest Arabian Sea has slightly tracked further westward during past six hours and now lies centred at Lat 20.8N and Long 60.0E about 150 km east-northeast of Masirah, Island (Oman). The Tropical Cyclone is likely to weaken into a depression during next 12 hrs and cross Oman coast by 12 June morning.

 

Due to high tidal flow the sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Makran western-most coast (Gwadar and Jiwani) accompanied with occasional gusty winds and maximum surge of 10 ft. The Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised the fishermen of Balochistan as:

 

Fishermen of Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea till 12 June evening.

Pakistan coast is out of danger from TC-ASHOBAA

Tropical Cyclone in Northwest Arabian Sea

 

The Tropical Cyclone (ASHOBAA) over northwest Arabian Sea has slightly tracked further westward during past six hours and now lies centred at Lat 20.8N and Long 60.5E about 180 km east of Masirah, Island (Oman). The Tropical Cyclone has started affecting the Oman coast.

 

Due to high tidal flow the sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Makran coast (Gwadar and Jiwani) accompanied with occasional gusty winds and maximum surge of 10 ft. The Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised the fishermen of Balochistan as:

 

Balochistan: Fishermen of Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea till 12 June evening.

The Tropical Cyclone (ASHOBAA) over west north Arabian Sea has tracked further westward during past 12 hours and now lies centred at Lat 20.6N and Long 61.0E about 500 km south of Gwadar and 220 km east of Masirah, Island (Oman). The Tropical Cyclone is likely to weak gradually, move further westward and cross Oman coast by 11 June evening/night.

 

The danger for Pakistani coastal area is over, but however due to high tidal flow the sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Makran coast (Gwadar and Jiwani) accompanied with occasional gusty winds and maximum surge of 10 ft. Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan as:

 

Sindh: Fishermen of Sindh can resume their fishing activities from 11 June.

Balochistan: Fishermen of Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea till 12 June.

The Tropical Cyclone is likely to intensify during next six hrs and then weak gradually with moving mainly towards west/southwest and cross Oman coast by 11 June.

The danger for Pakistani coastal area is now over, but however due to high tidal flow the sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Makran coast (Pasni, Gwadar and Jiwani) accompanied with occasional gusty winds and maximum surge of 10-12 ft. Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan as:

 

Sindh: Fishermen of Sindh can resume their fishing activities from 11 June.

Balochistan: Fishermen of Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea till Friday.

The Tropical Cyclone is likely to intensify during next 12 hrs and then weak gradually with moving mainly towards west (Oman coast).

 

The danger for Pakistani coastal area is now over, but however due to high tidal flow the sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Sindh coast and very rough along Makran coast (Pasni, Gwadar and Jiwani) accompanied with gusty winds and maximum surge of 12 ft. Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan as;

The Tropical Cyclone (ASHOBAA) over west-central Arabian Sea has further moved west-northwestward during past 12 hours and now lies centred at Lat 21.3N and Long 61.5E about 650 km southwest of Karachi and 400 km east-southeast of Masqat (Oman). The Tropical Cyclone is likely to intensify further during next 12 hrs and keep moving west-northwestward towards Oman coast.

The sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Sindh coast and very rough along Makran coast (Pasni, Gwadar and Jiwani) accompanied with strong winds and maximum surge of 12-15 ft. Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan as;

Sindh: Fishermen of Sindh are advised not to venture in open sea till today evening.

Balochistan: Fishermen of Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea till Thursday.

Under the influence of this system an extended clouds band prevails over Makran coast and south Punjab due to which scattered rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in southwest Balochistan (Pasni, Gwadar, Turbat, Kech and Jiwani) during next 24/36 hrs (with gradual increase in rainfall intensity from moderate to heavy) and over south Punjab. All stakeholders and concerned authorities are advised to keep themselves abreast about weather advisories of PMD during next two days to cope with the situation.

The sea conditions are likely to remain rough along Sindh coast and very rough along Makran coast (Pasni, Gwadar and Jiwani) accompanied with strong winds and maximum surge of 12-15 ft. Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan as;

Sindh: Fishermen of Sindh are advised not to venture in open sea till Wednesday evening/night.

The Tropical Cyclone is likely to intensify further and keep moving north-westward in next 24 hrs.

The sea conditions along Sindh-Makran coast are likely to remain rough to very rough associated with strong winds particularly along Makran coast till Thursday evening/night. Maximum tide height is expected 12-15 ft. Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan as;

Sindh: Fishermen of Sindh are advised not to venture in open sea till Thursday.

Balochistan: Fishermen of Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea till Friday.

In Arabian Sea, the persistence of clouds shows an area of convection with a potential of development of a cyclonic circulation over there. Sea surface temperatures and upper air analysis also point toward the development of a deep low pressure area. The numerical models are continuously indicating such cyclonic activity in Arabian Sea at a distance of 1600 km south of Pakistan coast in next couple of days.

 

Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department is monitoring the local and regional meteorological conditions regularly.
