High Resolution Regional Model (HRM) is a short range weather forecasting model developed by DWD (National Meteorological Service of Germany). The model is installed on a high performance computing cluster system of 184 cores.HRM is drived by intial conditions from the GME (Global Model of DWD) which has 30km horizontal grid resolution and 60 atmospheric pressure levels.HRM operates daily for 3day(00UTC) and 2day(06UTC) forecast at 11km horizontal resolution.
A non hydro-static model COSMO (COnsortium for Small Scale MOdeling) is under the process deployment. The use of this high resolution model (up to 2km) will further improve the weather forecasts issued by PMD and also enhance the accuracy of weather predictions. |
